Sir,

FOR THE

AGENT FOR

COLONIES

C.O

TO JUL OF

DOWNING STREET, LONDON.

15th July, 1901.

Hong Kong

Kowloon Water Supply.

I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of

your letter of the 28th June, No. 21086/01 enclosing copies

of further correspondence on the subject of the proposed

new Kowloon Water Works.

We referred the papers to Mr Chadwick and I en-

close for the consideration of Mr Secretary Chamberlain a

copy of his reply, and beg to express our concurrence in

his views.

We think also, in view of the claims which offi-

cials of the Public Works Department advanced to receive

extra remuneration for their services in connection with

the Praya Reclamation Works, that it would be well that

this aspect of the question should be considered and set-

tled before the final decision of the Secretary of State

is communicated to the Colonial Government.

I have the honour to be,

Sir,

Your obedient Servant,

The Under Secretary of State

&c.

&c.
